Lemur Conservation with AEECL
The Lemur Conservation Association (AEECL) is a charitable organisation run by a consortium of European zoos, dedicated to the conservation and research of Madagascar’s highly endangered lemurs. AEECL’s projects focus on habitat protection, education, and community-led conservation initiatives to safeguard Madagascar’s unique biodiversity.
Key initiatives include:
Survey and monitoring work in the forest areas.
Financially supporting teachers and students to enhance learning about the importance of conservation and Madagascar’s incredible biodiversity.
Running firebreak creation and maintenance programmes to prevent forest fires.
Reforestation efforts, including planting native trees and mangroves to restore lemur habitats.
Maintaining research centres for visiting researchers from across the globe.
ZSEA has been a dedicated partner of AEECL for over 20 years, contributing thousands of pounds to conservation and education efforts, and remains committed to expanding its support to help protect Madagascar’s endangered lemurs and their habitats.
Tusk Trust
Tusk Trust is a dynamic and adaptable organisation with over 30 years of experience in initiating and funding wildlife conservation programmes across Africa. Their work addresses critical conservation challenges, including the illegal wildlife trade, habitat destruction, and human-wildlife conflict.
The success of Tusk is rooted in the understanding that the futures of both people and wildlife are inextricably linked. By working with local communities, they support sustainable conservation solutions that benefit both ecosystems and livelihoods.
ZSEA is committed to strengthening its partnership with Tusk, where we aim to develop new projects that align with Tusk’s work across Africa. These collaborations will focus on species conservation, habitat restoration, and education initiatives that reinforce the importance of preserving Africa’s biodiversity. Discussions are ongoing to explore how we can integrate Tusk’s field conservation efforts into our educational outreach and conservation strategies.
WildCats Conservation Alliance
WildCats Conservation Alliance is dedicated to the conservation of wild tigers and Amur leopards, funding crucial projects across Asia that focus on habitat protection, anti-poaching initiatives, and human-wildlife conflict mitigation. Their efforts support the long-term survival of these iconic big cats through scientific research, law enforcement support, and community engagement.
ZSEA has been working alongside WildCats Conservation Alliance to contribute to global big cat conservation efforts. Through fundraising, awareness campaigns, and direct financial support, we aim to aid the protection of these endangered species in the wild.
International Vulture Programme
ZSEA maintains an ongoing collaboration with the International Vulture Programme (IVP), which is dedicated to the conservation of vulture species worldwide. Vultures play acritical role in ecosystems as nature’s clean-up crew, yet many species are facing rapid declines due to poisoning, habitat destruction, and illegal wildlife trade.
Our partnership with IVP focuses on raising awareness, supporting field conservation efforts, and exploring opportunities for direct involvement in vulture conservation projects. We are currently working towards a more in-depth collaboration to help safeguard these essential birds and promote their ecological importance on a global scale.
Your visit directly contributes to saving wildlife. Together, we can make difference.
