What types of volunteering opportunities are available?
We offer a variety of roles including animal care assistance, gardening, carpentry, public engagement, and supporting our events. You’ll have the chance to use your skills and passions to contribute to conservation efforts.
How old do I need to be to volunteer?
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Is there any payment for volunteering?
Volunteers are not paid, but in return for your time, we offer discounts on food and drinks, a zoo entrance pass to both Banham Zoo and Africa Alive, and access to volunteer events throughout the year.
Do I need any special skills to volunteer?
While no specific experience is required, we do look for volunteers who are eager to learn, can follow instructions, and have good physical fitness. Some roles may require working in all weather conditions or in close proximity to animals.
How do I sign up to become a volunteer?

How much time do I need to commit?
We ask that you realistically consider how much time you can devote to volunteering, as consistency is important. Volunteers are expected to stick to their shifts and training for maximum benefit.
